Program Officer

Summary: Full-time Program Officer who will be responsible for strategic program development (researching, evaluating, organizing and fostering new fellowship proposals) and for providing support to the current fellows.
Primary Responsibilities
- Stay current and aware of new research, information, best practices, innovations and thinking particularly in the child welfare field, one of Stoneleigh’s primary areas of interest
- Pursue opportunities for new fellowships that advance Stoneleigh’s mission
- Monitor and support the work of an assigned group of Fellows. This includes regular communication, in-person meetings, active participation on advisory committees and financial tracking.
- Write or contribute to reports and commentaries related to the work of the Fellows and the Foundation.
- Work as part of an internal team to build the visibility, awareness and familiarity of Stoneleigh and its work
- Prepare materials for Board of Directors as necessary
- Support the Executive Director
Other Responsibilities
- Attend meetings and conferences to stay current in the fields of funding interest (some travel is expected)
- Develop opportunities to disseminate the work of the Fellows to maximize their broader impact on policy and practice
- Develop and maintain relationships with practitioners, funders, researchers in fields of interest; make connections that will help Fellows and the Foundation achieve their goals
- Respond to emerging opportunities and needs within the fields of interest and systems serving Stoneleigh’s target population
- Assist in the selection and supervision of interns as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s level degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Public Policy, Social Work, Law, Education)
- Several years of experience in the philanthropic sector preferred
- Professional experience covering various U.S. children and youth programming and policy efforts
- Experience with strategic program development
- Professional experience working to effect policy and systems reform
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization, prioritization, judgment, and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including confidentiality, diplomacy, and tact; Strong work ethic and personal integrity; Ability to represent Stoneleigh Foundation externally
- Flexible and team oriented
- Above average computer proficiency
