The Nathan Cummings Foundation is proud to introduce The Nathan Cummings Foundation Fellowship.  Three visionaries will receive $100,000 each for one year and the office space needed to turn an inspired idea into a game-changing reality.  Successful applicants will be proven risk-takers who are ready to build on the Foundation’s strengths, question our assumptions, and be open to new approaches.
Fellows' projects will be expected to build on NCF’s current portfolio by pushing beyond its boundaries and opening productive new lines of inquiry; asking provocative questions; challenging conventional wisdom; and developing new ideas, approaches, and strategies.

Guidelines
The Fellowship Program provides three individuals with office space and $100,000 each to pursue a social or economic objective over one year.  The proposed projects must demonstrate exceptional vision and relate to the Foundation’s mission or core program areas.
Openness to new approaches and a willingness to take risks have become hallmarks of NCF's work.
  • Grantees of our Arts and Culture Program have taken the lead in a national dialogue about the role of the arts in social change.
  • NCF's Jewish Life and Values Program supports efforts that have re-defined the work of Jewish social justice in the US and opened debates to new thinking on Israel.
  • The Health Program has organized foundations and non-profits operating at the intersection of health care access, equity, and national competitiveness.
  • The Ecological Innovation Program works to redefine “the environment” and what caring about it means.
In addition, NCF's commitment to efforts that cut across traditional programmatic categories - through Contemplative PracticeShareholder Activities and Collaborative Initiatives is based on a belief that philanthropy itself will need to change in fundamental ways if we are to achieve our social, economic and ecological goals.

Fellows will have access to career support from the NCF staff and a network of NCF grantees and advisors, both during and after their fellowship year.
