Description

The purpose of this amendment is to extend the Full Application deadline to June 25, 2012 at 5:00pm Eastern Time. The page numbers and Table of Contents page numbers have been updated. All other parts of the FOA remain unchanged. The focus of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to develop specifically-identified technologies for buildings that are cost effective and can have a tremendous impact on energy savings overall and lead to a market-ready solution (e.g. at the commercial prototype phase) within five years of project launch. More specifically, the FOA is intended to support prototyping and optimization of proposed technologies for which proof-of-concept scientific demonstration already exists. Projects will be expected to focus on the research, development, demonstration and commercialization paths of the proposed technology while addressing any shortcomings or barriers to market entry. Projects must credibly demonstrate how the proposed technologies will meet the targets specified in the sub-topic descriptions. Projects under this FOA must be aimed at more than progress toward identified project goals; the project must be aimed at actual delivery of these project goals. Topic 1: Energy Saving Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems Subtopic 1.1: High Performance Air Source Cold Climate Heat Pumps Subtopic 1.2: Alternative Space-Heating Systems Subtopic 1.3: Next-Generation Heat Exchangers for Electric Vapor-Compression Heat Pumps and Air Conditioners Topic 2: Energy Saving Building Envelope Solutions Subtopic 2.1: High performance thermal insulation Subtopic 2.2: Advanced Roof/Attic Solutions Subtopic 2.3: Highly insulating windows The full Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is posted on the EERE Exchange website at: https://eere-exchange.energy.gov Applications must be submitted through the EERE Exchange website to be considered for award. The applicant must first register and create an account on the EERE Exchange website. 1. I'd say that coal power is so much worse than the alternatives that in places where choices are available, we should choose anything but coal.
